Willowbrook was happily exploring the territory. Today was a nice day, in her opinion. She loved winter, and she enjoyed being a warrior. It had only been a year since Willowbrook had become a warrior. During her warrior assessment, her mentor Frogspeckle was killed by a fox. Willowbrook had killed the fox to avenge her deceased mentor now in StarClan, and Willowbrook had been admired for her noble act.
As she wandered along the cold marshes, she heard a noise and looked around. Who could it be?

Owlstar had decided to hunt for himself for a short time. He knew he needed some time alone for a while to simply be with himself. The smaller tabby let his paws dip into the fresh snow. As he pulled them out, a paw print was left behind. He had only managed to catch a mouse, and he was on his way back to the camp. Being at camp was important, and he had had enough time in the morning alone. It was a small amount of prey he held, but it was certainly better than nothing. Sooner than later, a mouse would be something everyone would be thankful for.
Owlstar eventually heard the paw steps of another. He froze. Immediately, the worst came to mind. Dropping the mouse, he snuck towards the sound, silent. MarshClan was known for being stealthy, and stealthy he certainly was. Thankfully, before he could charge at what he thought to be an intruder, he realized that he knew who was making the sound. Before him stood a familiar she-cat, a pretty Egyptian Mau to be exact. "Hello, Willowbrook." The tom said cheerfully, standing out of his previous stealth position. "Fancy seeing you here. May I ask, whatever are you doing?" The tom tilted his head slightly and smiled. He preferred to be with others far more than being solitary. That was just his nature.
Willowbrook turned around as she noticed Owlstar. She smiled at the sight of him. She thought he was a good leader, in truth. "Hello, Owlstar!" She greeted in an energetic way. Maybe too energetically. The Egyptian Mau didn't care. When Owlstar asked what Willowbrook was doing, she shrugged. "I don't know. I'd say exploring." She replied. "What have you been doing lately? Probably want to relax and relieve some stress from dealing with everyone? Leading a Clan is tough."
Willowbrook went over to a certain spot and sat down, looking up at the sky.

Owlstar's smile grew as Willowbrook replied back with enthusiasm. Her energy seemed to make him more energetic. Once she answered him, the tabby found it slightly amusing that she didn't know what she was doing. She then asked what he was doing, which reminded him of something. "One moment!" He said as he bounded away. A few seconds later, he came back with a mouse in his jaws, the one he had dropped earlier. He placed it in front of himself.
The tom recalled what Willowbrook had said once more. He was surprised to see how easily she had guessed what he had been doing. Normally, he would simply excuse that he was hunting, but she seemed to understand him. A thankful glaze in his green eyes, he replied, "Yes, leading a Clan can be strenuous at times. Sure, I love it, but sometimes you just need a small break. I'm glad to see you understand as not everyone does." Smiling again, he asked, "Would you like to share this with me? Hunting patrols have already been sent out and the prey pile was filled when I checked this morning. It's still warm and we can talk for a little while."
Was he flirting? He didn't really know. Still, he did not wait for an answer as he laid down in the cool snow. He watched her carefully to see how she would respond. In the back of his mind, he was extremely worried that she would deny him. But, he just had to hope.
Willowbrook smiled as Owlstar then bounded off, bringing back a mouse in his jaws. Had he forgotten as well? As Owlstar placed down the mouse in front of him and began talking, Willowbrook could relate to what he was saying. "Especially when you have lots of cats pestering you and whatnot." Willowbrook added. She knew how some of her Clanmates weren't so understanding. It was terrible.
When Owlstar asked if Willowbrook wanted to share the mouse with him, she gladly nodded and a smile spread across her face. "Of course!" She replied. Willowbrook was also glad at the opportunity to talk with the leader a little more.

Owlstar's hope was not wasted. Willowbrook cheerfully accepted the leader's offer. He flicked his tail, beckoning her to sit with him. He used his paw to push the mouse towards her, inviting her to have the first bite. Once they were both settled, he continued on the conversation, speaking from his heart. After all, his original name was Owlheart!
"You know, I'm not exactly used to simply talking to someone. It always has to be about borders or some problem in the camp. So that being said, why don't you tell me more about yourself, Willowbrook? How do you like being a warrior so far?" Willowbrook's warriorhood happened not long ago when she acted valiantly. He was so impressed that he deemed her ready to be a warrior. Although, when you think about Willowbrook, you can't help but remember Frogspeckle. He missed the older warrior.
Willowbrook smiled as Owlstar pushed the mouse towards her, and they began talking as they ate. Mice, vole, and bird were Willowbrook's favorite foods. Also squirrel, Willowbrook couldn't forget about squirrels! She listened as Owlstar explained how he wasn't really used to talking to someone. She felt that there was something good about her since Owlstar had decided to talk to her. When Owlstar asked Willowbrook about how she liked being a warrior so far, she smiled.
"I enjoy being a warrior." Willowbrook replied, her green eyes lighting up with her usual cheerfulness. "Especially since I'll have the opportunity to mentor an apprentice of my own one day! Plus, there'll be more opportunities besides mentoring young cats, like becoming a deputy."

Owlstar was relieved when Willowbrook replied that she enjoyed being a warrior. It was something he often wondered about. Were his clanmates truly happy? What could he do better? He took a moment to take a small bite out of the mouse, but then continued, "I'm glad to hear that! It's important to me that everyone in MarshClan is happy. Once Leaf-Bare if over, there will hopefully be more kits in camp. If you continue to prove yourself as you did during your Warrior Assesment, I'm certain you'll have an apprentice in no time. My first apprentice was such a great experience."
Smiling, the tabby said, "Speaking of kits, do you plan on having any one day?" He paused for a moment. Owlstar realized the weight of what he asked and immediately wished he could take it back. "I apologize for my forwardness, Willowbrook. Please, you don't have to answer that if you don't want to." A frantic look glazed his large eyes as he hoped he hadn't offended the molly.
Willowbrook seemed to enjoy talking to Owlstar the more this conversation lasted. "I bet it was. It's really fun passing down your knowledge to other cats and I bet you feel accomplished afterwards." She agreed. When Owlstar then asked if Willowbrook planned on having kits one day, acting frantic afterwards, Willowbrook smiled. "Possibly. Being a queen sounds great. Your question wasn't bothersome, Owlstar." She said calmly. The Mau hoped this would calm down the leader.
Willowbrook then decided to return the question. "Have you ever wanted kits, too?"

When Owlstar noticed Willowbrook smiling at him, it immediately calmed him. She took his questioning extremely well and disregarded his... odd, actions, which was very appreciated. It was very relieving to see no look of judgment cross her gaze. He smiled at the she-cat's response and her reassurance.
Owlstar's relief immediately flooded away when Willowbrook returned the question. Rather than think through his response, his answer came far too quickly for him to truly register. "Yes. No. Maybe... Wait, yes. Kits would be amazing. And terrifying. I mean, how do you even take care of kits? Is there a way to learn from a mentor or something-" He cut himself off with an awkward smile. He was being ridiculous. He was a leader and had an image to maintain. And yet, there was something about Willowbrook that made him feel comfortable with being himself.
Willowbrook found Owlstar's reaction amusing, so she giggled a bit. "Yea, I guess it can be terrifying!" She then said, resuming to normal behavior. "Parenthood isn't for everyone, after all." Willowbrook had a feeling she and Owlstar would get along very well, and she liked that. More friends would be nice. Then, Willowbrook decided to move on to a new topic. "I can't wait for new-leaf to arrive." She commented. "It will soon, though. Just in another moon or two, and flowers will be everywhere!"
The Egyptian Mau looked up at the sky and noticed how it was all white. "And the sky will be bright blue again..."

Willowbrook's giggle made him laugh along too. Again, she had managed to make him feel comfortable with being himself. Owlstar was calm and collected on the outside, but very worried on the inside. He wasn't yet sure if that made him a good leader or not. When Willowbrook mentioned New-Leaf, he relaxed even more. The thought of it made him happy. "New-Leaf is my favorite season. Kits are born, prey is coming back into our paws, and the Clans are to busy with themselves to cause a commotion. Except for WolfClan, of course." He chuckled. He found WolfClan amusing sometimes, always looking for a fight. "They never stop, do they?"
Owlstar brought his eyes up to the sky along with the she-cat. "Actually, I prefer the sky to be white. It looks cooler." He dropped his gaze back to her once more and winked. His confidence was coming back with the more time he spent with her.
